Novel manuscript PDF FAQ

Can I use it for an English novel?
Yes. Choose Horizontal. The tool detects English text and uses a serif font, justified lines with hyphenation, and first-line indents that skip the first paragraph of each chapter or scene.
Can I use it for a printed paperback?
You can create PDFs at trim size, such as 6×9 in or 5×8 in. Bleed and crop marks are not added, and fonts come from your device, so check your printing service's requirements before you submit.
What is the vertical mode for?
Vertical mode typesets Japanese manuscripts in traditional vertical text, with ruby (furigana), emphasis dots, and tate-chu-yoko. English words are rotated sideways in vertical text, so use Horizontal for English.
Is my manuscript uploaded to a server?
Opened files and pasted text are processed in your browser. No account is required.
Which files can I open?
You can open .txt and .md files, or paste text. A .txt file that is not valid UTF-8 is read as Shift_JIS.
